friday favorites

This weeks friday favorite is a book series that has been a great pleasure to read and have given me many exciting moments in the cinema!

I love the universe that J.K. Rowling have created for its humor, the excitement, for all the funny names she have been able to come up with and for the friendship, courage and loyalty you can find in its main characters.

And to think I discovered it all due to a mistake made by the Norwegian Post services! I lived up north in a town called Bodø many years back and one day I got a package in my mailbox that was addressed to the previous owner of the apartment we lived in. It was obviously a book since it was sent from a book club. I took it in and placed on a dresser in my hallway and tried to reach her to tell her that it somehow had ended up at her previous address. But the phone number that I got from the phone company was not in use and I was unable to reach her, so the package just sat there on the dresser. I thought that if she found out it was missing maybe she would swing by one day, but nothing happened and months later the package was still right where I'd left it. One day I was bored and sick of that package just lying around I opened it and found the first book in the Harry Potter series inside of it. I read it out that very day.

  1. What a wonderful way to discover Harry Potter! I read the series from the very beginning; the first book came out when I was 11 or something. I always used to dress up for every event whether it was a new book coming out or a new movie. Once my sister and I dressed up as Dobby and Winky the house elves, and wore pillowcases with tea cosies on our heads!

  2. What a truly magic way to enter Harry Potter's world! :) I read the series as an adult, but really enjoyed it (it's the kid in me :)) She created an amazing world (she also gave one of the best commencement speeches I ever heard at Harvard maybe 2 years ago - a very inspiring woman! :)).
